Prospecting for accountants

Prospecting for accountancy practices

Find the businesses in your area that have grown past their current bookkeeper, identify the owner or finance lead, and reach them before their year end does.

Self-serve from the Free plan with no card, or fully managed. Every result is grounded in live search or it is discarded.

Who this is for

Practices and bookkeeping firms that want to add clients in a chosen sector or size band, rather than take whoever walks in. Particularly those with a specialism — contractors, ecommerce, hospitality, medical — that a general practice cannot match.

What Prospexly finds

Trading businesses with a website, an address and a phone number, plus what enrichment can confirm about size and founding year. A company founded three years ago with ten staff is at exactly the point where the spreadsheet stops working.

Searches that work well here

  • “Independent restaurants in Edinburgh”
  • “Construction companies within 25 km of Reading”
  • “Dental practices in Kent”
  • “Ecommerce businesses in the East Midlands”

Who it identifies

Named people in the roles that can say yes, each carrying the page they were found on. Email addresses are only ever stored when they are published; a pattern-guessed address is refused rather than generated.

  • Owner
  • Managing Director
  • Finance Director
  • Practice Manager
  • Company Secretary

The angle the sequence takes: The moment they are approaching: a VAT threshold, a first hire, a year end, a sector rule change. Accountancy is bought at transitions, and the sequence is written to the transition rather than to the practice.

What happens automatically

  1. Step 1

    Companies are found

Grounded searches against live results, every company carrying the page it was found on. Anything that cannot be traced to a source is discarded.

  2. Step 2

    The right people are identified

The roles you name, looked up on the company's own site and the public record. Where a name has no published address, enrichment researches one and never guesses.

  3. Step 3

    Addresses are verified

Syntax, domain, mail servers, disposable providers and role accounts, before anything is sent. Undeliverable addresses are left out with the reason recorded.

  4. Step 4

The sequence is written and sent

Each step written to the recipient from your offer and their record, threaded as a reply, and sent from your own mailbox at a pace its warmup allows.

  5. Step 5

    Replies become opportunities

A reply stops the follow-ups, opens an opportunity on your pipeline, marks the contact engaged and creates a task to answer them.

  6. Step 6

    Everything lands in the CRM

Companies, people, messages, opens, clicks and replies, on records you keep whether or not you stay on a paid plan.

On the self-serve plans you run the searches and enrol the people; on Managed the engine does every step above on a ten-minute timer and you answer the replies.

What it replaces

  • Networking breakfasts as the only source of new clients
  • A directory listing that produces price-shoppers
  • A bought list of local companies with no idea who runs them
  • A marketing agency retainer for a practice that needs twenty new clients, not a brand

What you can measure

  • Businesses found and owners identified, on the Autopilot page
  • Replies, and what they asked about — visible in the thread on each contact
  • Opportunities opened and the fee value you assign them, on the pipeline
  • New clients whose first contact was a sequence email

No response-rate promises here, deliberately. The numbers above are counted by the CRM and are yours to read after the first fortnight.

What it costs

One AI lead is one company or one contact. A search returning 10 companies with 1 contact each uses 20 leads. The Free plan includes the whole CRM and 2 AI leads a month with no card, so the first search costs nothing.

Questions from accountants

Is cold email to businesses allowed?
Business-to-business email to corporate addresses is lawful in the UK under PECR provided the recipient can opt out, which every Prospexly message allows with a one-click unsubscribe that goes straight onto your suppression list. Sole traders and partnerships are treated as individuals under PECR, so the size floor exists partly to leave them out. You remain the sender and responsible for your outreach; the product makes the compliant path the default.
Can it avoid contacting my existing clients?
Yes. Import your client list first. Every search excludes companies already in your CRM, and a suppressed address is never written to.
What if a prospect replies during my busiest month?
The reply stops the sequence, opens an opportunity and creates a task to answer them the next day. You can pause the whole engine from one button during January and resume in February; everyone already mid-sequence waits.

Run one search and look at what comes back

The Free plan needs no card and includes the whole CRM. Search for the businesses you sell to, open a company and check the source page it came from. That is the only test that matters.
