Prospecting for marketing agencies

Prospecting for marketing agencies

Find the businesses in the sectors you do your best work for, identify the owner or marketing lead, and open with an observation about their market rather than a list of your services.

Self-serve from the Free plan with no card, or fully managed. Every result is grounded in live search or it is discarded.

Who this is for

Agencies of two to twenty people whose new business comes from referrals and the founder's network, and who want a second channel that runs whether or not the founder has a free afternoon. It works best for agencies with a sector focus, because a sequence written to dentists reads better than one written to businesses.

What Prospexly finds

Businesses with a website you can look at before you write, a description of what they do, and the page they were found on. That is what lets the first line be about them: the campaign they are running, the market they are in, the thing their site does not yet do.

Searches that work well here

  • “Independent dental practices in Greater Manchester”
  • “Boutique hotels in the Cotswolds”
  • “Ecommerce brands in London with 10 to 50 staff”
  • “Private schools in Surrey”

Who it identifies

Named people in the roles that can say yes, each carrying the page they were found on. Email addresses are only ever stored when they are published; a pattern-guessed address is refused rather than generated.

  • Owner
  • Founder
  • Marketing Director
  • Head of Marketing
  • Managing Director

The angle the sequence takes: One specific observation about their market or their presence, then one specific thing you would do about it. Agencies lose the first email by describing themselves; the sequence is written to describe the recipient.

What happens automatically

  1. Step 1

    Companies are found

Grounded searches against live results, every company carrying the page it was found on. Anything that cannot be traced to a source is discarded.

  2. Step 2

    The right people are identified

The roles you name, looked up on the company's own site and the public record. Where a name has no published address, enrichment researches one and never guesses.

  3. Step 3

    Addresses are verified

Syntax, domain, mail servers, disposable providers and role accounts, before anything is sent. Undeliverable addresses are left out with the reason recorded.

  4. Step 4

The sequence is written and sent

Each step written to the recipient from your offer and their record, threaded as a reply, and sent from your own mailbox at a pace its warmup allows.

  5. Step 5

    Replies become opportunities

A reply stops the follow-ups, opens an opportunity on your pipeline, marks the contact engaged and creates a task to answer them.

  6. Step 6

    Everything lands in the CRM

Companies, people, messages, opens, clicks and replies, on records you keep whether or not you stay on a paid plan.

On the self-serve plans you run the searches and enrol the people; on Managed the engine does every step above on a ten-minute timer and you answer the replies.

What it replaces

  • Buying a list from a data broker and wondering how old it is
  • A junior's afternoon on Google Maps building a prospect spreadsheet
  • A separate sequencing tool, verifier and CRM, each with its own login
  • Waiting for the next referral

What you can measure

  • Companies found by sector, on the Autopilot page and under Companies
  • Reply rate per step, which tells you which angle is landing
  • Opportunities opened from replies, and their pipeline value
  • Retainers won that started as a sequence reply — the number that matters

No response-rate promises here, deliberately. The numbers above are counted by the CRM and are yours to read after the first fortnight.

What it costs

One AI lead is one company or one contact. A search returning 10 companies with 1 contact each uses 20 leads. The Free plan includes the whole CRM and 2 AI leads a month with no card, so the first search costs nothing.

Questions from marketing agencies

Can I run different sequences for different sectors?
On the self-serve plans, yes — build a sequence per sector and enrol the right companies into each. Managed runs one configuration per account with up to five kinds of business, and writes each email to the recipient's business, so a dentist and a hotelier receive different emails from the same sequence.
Does it write the emails in our voice?
It writes from your company description, the offer you give it, and the tone you choose — professional, friendly, direct, warm or formal. Your signature goes on every message. Read the first few in the outbox; if the voice is off, the fix is usually one more sentence in the offer.
Can we use it for clients as well as ourselves?
Each account sends from the mailboxes connected to it. An agency running outbound for a client would connect a mailbox on the client's domain and keep the client's prospects in a separate account, which the team seats on Professional are for.

Run one search and look at what comes back

The Free plan needs no card and includes the whole CRM. Search for the businesses you sell to, open a company and check the source page it came from. That is the only test that matters.
